The Trophy Wives Club by Ali Spooner

This book is hard to categorize because while there is a romance, it isn’t the focus. It is not entirely erotica, though the premise is erotica-based.

Lindy is a ‘trophy’ wife or a super-rich (politician? – we don’t entirely recall) man who travels often. She is sexually under-satisfied and know a whole community of women in the same place as her. So she decides to open an exclusive ‘club’ to take care of their needs. The club is a fitness club, massage spa et al, but all the women working there would also offer ‘something extra’ to the members. Lindy offers her regular massage therapist, Marley Jacobs, the manager’s job. Marley is happy to take it on and her first responsibility is recruiting the rest of the staff and getting the place going.

There is absolutely no conflict of any kind in this book, which is a good thing. Marley, the rest of the staff (which includes Marley’s romantic interest, Luna), Lindy, all the club members – everyone gets along perfectly. A lot of sex is spoken about throughout (given that is the focus of the book), there are quite a few explicit scenes and a shot of romance too. However, we just couldn’t connect to anyone or anything in the book.

We have neither complaints nor kudos for this one. What we have is worse – indifference – it left us without any sort of feeling.

For a sex-focussed, angst-free read, our choice would be Begin Again, by Sarah Sanders. We loved Kat in that one and really liked Beth too.
