Fake romances make great rom-coms. Particularly because they throw two polar opposites together and make them work. The job of the writer is to make both leads likeable. Jae pulls it all off in this book.

Claire is an OCD overachieving psychologist who gets dumped on the day of her engagement. Her fiancée, Abby, is a perfectly nice person with truly valid reasons for dumping Claire. One of the major reasons for leaving Claire practically at the altar is that she is so busy writing a book about relationships that she had completely neglected Abby. The book happens to be very important to Claire because she sees it as a stepping stone in her career. In a bid to ensure that a possible publisher doesn’t reject her because of her newly single status, Claire hires an out-of-work actress, Lana, to be her girlfriend/fiancée till the publishing contract is final, which would be about two months.

The very best part of this book is that Lana is described as full bodied (once even called ‘obese’ in the book). We love that the author has stepped out of the to-die-for abs/body routine mostly used in lesfic. We love that Lana is not shy or ashamed of her body and is an enthusiastic foodie. We love that there is no hint of body-shaming by any character in the book. This part is what makes this book work most for us.
