Marriage of Unconvenience By Chelsea M. Cameron

Fake marriage as a path to real love. Always a fun premise for some engaging fluff. And fun fluff is exactly what this book is.

Lauren “Lo” Bowman is financially down and out. There is money lying in her name which she can only get when she is married.

Cara Simms, her best friend, straight best friend, is as much in financial distress.

The marriage stipulation to get the inheritance is gender-free, so Lo and Cara decide to get married to get hold of the money.

The story narrated in Lo’s voice is actually more about Cara and her exploration and discovery of herself. There wasn’t much growth in Lo’s character, but following Cara in her journey was quite interesting. Lo, sadly, doesn’t come across as interesting. A little stiff, perhaps, but then it is difficult to write in a certain voice and have them talk glowingly about themselves.

There are no real surprises or plot twists but this is a easy-breezy read. Some supporting characters (especially the girls in the bridal gown shop) are great fun.
