Just Jorie by Robin Alexander

Robin Alexander has refined the straight-girl-falls trope into a fine art.

Stuck in the airport, caught in a snowstorm, Lena Vaughn has to find shelter for the duration it would take for flights to resume. She offers similarly stranded, but less equipped to handle the disaster, Jorie Andolini, help with finding shelter. The two women find rooms in the same hotel and spend time together. Early on straight Lena knows Jorie is gay but enjoys the company, while navigating a way to ensure that Jorie doesn’t get any ideas about her. Their chances of flying back are slim, so they rent a car to make the trip back home. There is more sharing, bickering, arguing, laughter and bonding between the two on the way back.

Once they return home and to their individual lives, Lena finds herself missing Jorie. With a little help and push from her brother, Lena takes the plunge to explore her inexplicable draw towards Jorie.

Thankfully, Alexander’s books do not follow the tendency to bring in angst into a perfectly well-developing romance. So this is an angst-free romance with typical OTT crazy relatives that this author specialises in.

This is a funny, lovely romance. Excellent read.
