The Distance Between Us by Kiera Marks

We love the friends-to-lovers trope. Added to that is an overlay of internal teen struggle with sexuality.

Madison and Lacey are best friends. Madison (the narrator) is attracted to her best friend but tries to keep it quiet. Till they kiss. Then she finds it harder to control her feelings while Lacey wants to ignore the incident. However, they continue sharing a relationship which is in a weird zone between friends and definitely, most definitely, not friendship.

This teenage angst trope is very, very common. But in this one Marks introduces blatant exhibitionism where Lacey puts on a show for her best friend every night. Okay, confession…that was way titillating and what kept us invested in this relationship.

It is a fairly short, very feel-good read.
