Love Me True (Rose Lake #3) by Chloe Peterson

Kate Morrison has recently bought a bakery with her best friend Jamie and they are on their way to making it a success. Though single, Kate is in a good place. On a day like any other, she is off to meet her older sister, Tracy, who is moving back to the small town with her girlfriend, Allison Carver. Tracy and Kate have a patchy relationship but are trying to have a go. At the first sight of Allison, Kate realises that she is the woman of her dreams, but is in a relationship with her sister.

Allison, an architect, was in a great job and climbing fast. But she was mugged and now has fear rooted in her which is why she wanted to leave the city. Her girlfriend, Tracy, is not only supportive but also so keen on their relationship that she moves with Allison. Things should be good, except that Kate and Allison are attracted to each other.

This book is all about the relationship between Kate and Allison and it had us cringing most of the time. So to start with, we really liked both, Kate and Allison. As the book progressed, very surprisingly, our problem was with Kate rather than with Allison.

Kate knows how her sister feels about Allison and the huge change she’s making for her girlfriend. Allison tells Kate that she wants to stay with Tracy and give that relationship a better chance. Despite all that, Kate doesn’t step back.

At the end of it, we like Allison but aren’t so sure whether we like the book which is well-written and has its moments.

Guess that this one has its appeal, though not for us.
