The Summer of Our Discontent by Robin Alexander

Fun, funny and likeable characters – Robin Alexander is a fail-safe choice for a light feel-good read.

Faith ‘Chub’ Leblanc and Rachel Chauvin have been enemies for almost thirty years. Faith is now a firefighter and Rachel a cop, and they have managed to create a wedge between the two organisations with their long-standing feud. Much to their bemusement, Rachel’s daughter and Faith’s newly-arrived-to-town niece become inseparable and their presence in each other’s life increases. Particularly when the two girls go to camp with the two adults volunteering as chaperones. Things shift at camp and their relationship takes a different direction.

This is the first Alexander book where both MCs let down other people that they are/have been involved with in not exactly a nice way. That is a little sad and takes away somewhat from the rollicking ride.

But like most Alexander’s book, this one is also recommended.
