How to Talk to Nice English Girls by Gretchen Evans

Set in the 1920s, this is a lovely, lovely read.

Marian Fielding is an earl’s daughter brought up in the trappings of propriety. She is sensible and correct. The family is in the throes of planning her sister’s wedding when her father’s business partner from the US arrives with his daughter, Katherine Fuller, for an extended stay. Katherine is known to be scandalous and Marian is tasked with ‘teaching’ Katherine how to be a proper lady.

This is really a book about Marian’s growth and changes in her under Katherine’s influence. Marian is instantly appealing in every way. Katherine was initially interesting but didn’t remain a great character as the book progressed even as Marian became stronger and more and more appealing. However, the two of them work together perfectly well. It would be remiss not to mention the sex scene. One word: great!

This one is definitely recommended.
