Keep Holly Close by A.E. Radley

⭐⭐

This one was a complete miss for us. The plot, which could’ve been stronger, is made paper-thin with and addition of a white-collared crime.

Holly Carter, former assistant of Victoria Hastings (a devil-wears-Prada kinda boss), is now Victoria’s partner and mother to Victoria’s two kids. Holly is also a freelance journalist. Most importantly, she has amnesia and doesn’t remember anything. Her memories are however, preserved in her meticulous journals. Holly’s and Victoria’s happy family life is threated when Holly receives an email containing pictures of Victoria in a close, passionate encounter with another woman. While this doesn’t break them up, Holly, nevertheless convinces Victoria that they need to smoke out the perpetrator by pretending to split. Incredibly, Victoria agrees to the amateur sleuthing even when there seems to be an incriminating trails of embezzlement of millions leading back to her.

Despite her damn-fool scheme and bumbling, Holly remains the most likeable person in the cast. The story would’ve been stronger if it concentrated in their relationship and recovery of Holly’s memories leading back to the villain of the piece. We believe that Radley didn’t really spend enough time thinking this one through and wrote a very, very average hurried piece. Guess it is a fallout for self-published authors trying to create a whole catalogue quickly to cash in to potential earnings.

This book is meh, at best.
